2011 is nearly over and what a year it has been for the choir. There have been musical highs but also the great sadness of losing one of our choir members, the much-loved Lila Bailey, at whose memorial concert we sang in October. She will be greatly missed by us all and by the many people whose lives she touched.

On a happier note, we are looking forward to a concert at Bromsgrove School where we team up with the Prep School Choir, Harvington Singers and Kids Aloud to perform Zimbe, a vibrant collection of African Songs composed by the talented young composer, Alexander L’Estrange. The concert is in aid of Waterloo Schools in Sierra Leone. This is a joyful work which will make sure that the season ends on a high note.

We round off the year with our carol concert in Elmley Castle which, this year, is in aid of a very special charity called Canine Partners. The charity assists disabled people to enjoy greater independence and a better quality of life through the help of specially trained dogs. You can learn more about them at www.caninepartners.org.uk .

One of the most enjoyable, entertaining and professional evenings my husband and I have attended for many years,
The programme was wonderfully varied and the evening went in a flash. We are so glad to have come down for this concert from Oswestry, Shropshire

What a wonderful evening of music making we experienced on Saturday. Well done to all the Avon Singers. You were scintillating, funny, warm and SO talented. Thank you so much. Let’s have more!
